Cookie policy
Effective 1 January 2026
1. What cookies and browser storage are
Cookies are small text records placed on a device by a website. Similar technologies include local storage, which lets a site save a preference in the browser. They can support core operation, remember settings or help measure how pages are used. Some are set directly by the visited site; others may be set by a service provider.
Sortsptclipcottage uses essential local storage to remember whether you accepted, rejected or reviewed optional cookie choices. Optional analytics and functional technologies will be activated only where configured and where required consent has been obtained.
2. Technologies we may use
| Category | Example record | Purpose | Typical duration | Choice |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | sortspt_cookie_choice | Stores the selected cookie preference so the banner does not repeat on every page. | Until browser storage is cleared | Required for preference management |
| Essential | Security or load-balancing record | May protect requests, distribute traffic and prevent abuse at the hosting layer. | Session to 30 days | Necessary |
| Analytics | Aggregate visit identifier | May measure page visits, broad device categories and navigation patterns to improve content. | Up to 13 months | Optional |
| Functional | Display preference | May remember nonessential interface choices for future visits. | Up to 12 months | Optional |
The table describes categories the site may use rather than guaranteeing that every optional record is active. We do not use optional storage merely because you continue browsing. “Reject Non-Essential” preserves only records needed to provide the requested service and remember that choice.
3. Consent and changing your selection
When the banner appears, “Accept All” permits optional categories, while “Reject Non-Essential” declines them. “Preferences” provides further context before selection. Your choice is written to local storage. To reset it, clear site data for sortsptclipcottage.skin in your browser and reload the page. The banner will then appear again.
Withdrawing consent does not make processing before withdrawal unlawful. Clearing an analytics cookie may not remove information already converted into anonymous aggregate reporting, but it prevents later recognition through that record.
4. Browser opt-out instructions
Most browsers let you view, block and delete cookies or site data. Menu wording changes by version, but controls are usually found under Privacy, Security, Cookies or Site Data. You can search stored sites for this domain and remove its records. You may also configure the browser to block third-party cookies, delete data on exit or request permission before storage.
- Chrome and Chromium-based browsers: open Settings, then Privacy and security, and select Third-party cookies or Site data.
- Firefox: open Settings, choose Privacy & Security, then use Cookies and Site Data.
- Safari: open Settings or Preferences, choose Privacy, then manage website data.
- Mobile browsers: use the browser’s privacy settings or the application settings supplied by the device.
Blocking all storage may cause the cookie banner to return because the site cannot remember your selection. Private-browsing sessions typically remove local records when the session closes.
5. Third-party services and updates
Hosting, security or analytics processors may receive limited technical information when providing services. Their use is governed by contracts and their own public notices where applicable. We will update this policy if cookie categories, purposes or providers materially change and will request renewed consent where legally necessary.
